After finally winding down from an extremely busy weekend of fundraising, I am happy to be reflecting on a successful race night! The lead up to the event was tough, as it was imperative that the event was a success in order to keep individual fundraising targets low, and also not to let the rest of the team down!
The event was published in an article in the Evening Express on the 30th of May. Click here to view the full press release.
In order to reach our fundraising target of £6,600, the team have split our efforts into group events, individual fundraising and crowdfunding. The race night was the first group event that the project team have delivered so far.
We would like to thank the following people for sponsoring all of the 9 horse races at our event…
Race Name | Sponsor |
The Rump Stakes | Janette Wilson |
Legge’s Challenge | Warddykes Primary School PPA Group |
The Chessington Cup | Lars and Nadja |
The Motor Memorial | Patrizia |
The Speed Mercantile | Pollock Precision Engineering Ltd |
The Munny Chase | Chapter One Hair Salon |
The Stamina Stakes | Hair by Christopher Laird |
The Blue Line Trophy | Gordon Laird Coaching & Consultancy |
The Handicap Hurdles | Gordon Laird Coaching & Consultancy |
The race night last Saturday brought in just over £800! The team are over the moon, as we didn’t expect to raise this much! As well as the race night, the team managed to secure a sponsored night at Underdog at their Contact vs Occupy event. Underdog donated £1 per ticket sold to their event, which generated £100 for the project. As well as this, Enjoy Music Festival was held at Hazelhead Park on Saturday where we were given permission to hold a face painting stall to raise money and promote our project. After a busy weekend of fundraising and promoting, we managed to secure over £1,000!
We are gradually getting closer to our fundraising target of £6,600 – roll on the next event!
